For a financial services organisation, open web access isn't a weakness to lock down - it's a business necessity. Analysts research markets and counterparties, dealmakers pursue opportunities, advisors serve clients, and nearly all of it runs through the browser. Restrict it and you don't reduce risk so much as slow down growth.

That leaves every financial services firm - bank, insurer, asset or wealth manager - carrying the same structural exposure: the browser is both where the business runs and where it's most exposed. It's where today's attackers gain a quiet, persistent foothold, and the one place even the best-funded security investments consistently fail to protect.

So one global asset manager decided to find out exactly how wide that gap was, and put its defences to the test against a realistic set of browser-based attacks.

The result was stark: on their own, the firm's existing defences stopped just 17% of them. With Menlo added inside the browsers, that figure reached 100%. Just as telling was what didn't happen: no disruption to the business, at all.
